a ship adrift

Ship Adrift is an artwork by James Bridle.

It was on display as an installation in the exhibition Hybrids: On the borderline between Art and Technology at the Onassis Cultural Centre, Athens, Greece, from 8 November 2016 to 15 January 2017.

It is also, here, online, and in the air.

The Ship Adrift is a mad, lost, and imaginary airship, driven across the world and the web by the real wind, controlled by a weather station attached to the roof of the gallery in Athens. As it flies, it tries to find itself by searching the web for things nearby. And then it tries to speak them.

Ship Adrift was first commissioned by Artangel for A Room For London in 2012.
